London 2025

In March 2025 I had the fantastic opportunity to travel to London UK through my 9-5 job. We had a booth at The Photography Video Show 2025
While there, a coworker and I took every opportunity we had over the one-week period to sightsee and take photos.

The photography below is from the perspective of a small-town “Ohio Midwesterner” Photographer (Northwest Ohio) Some photos are recreations of other famous photos while the majority are my attempt to capture what I saw and experienced.

Big Ben - Palace of Westminster - Oliver Cromwell

Big Ben clock tower and the Palace of Westminster are beautiful buildings!
I first saw it in the cover of the night from across the river. It was beautiful from a far but something else up close. Unfortunately, that night a protester scaled the building, causing the bridge and the surrounding area to become blocked off, stopping us from getting a close-up look. In some of the night photos you can see a lift in the background that I assume was used to communicate or help get the man down.
Thankfully, I was able to come back another day and see it from close below.
It was so spectacular! I was not aware of all the fine details and gold accents that decorated the entire building. Truly a work of art!

Tower Bridge - Tower of Londond - London Skyline

When spending time in this area, I fell in love with the London city skyline. I loved how a new and modern city exists right next to something so old and historic. The Sky Garden building uniquely sits within the skyline giving it character without looking outof place. Nothing else to say except this was one of my favorite moments during the trip.

The British Museum

This museum was fantastic! Both its architecture and the relics it contains. I will happily visit again and highly recommend you take a few hours or an afternoon to spend time here.

Nelson’s Column - Leadenhall Market

Nelson’s Column was one of the the largest column I saw in my time in London
According to Wikipedia at this time: “It is a monument in Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, Central London, built to commemorate Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson's decisive victory at the Battle of Trafalgar over the combined French and Spanish navies, during which he was killed by a French sniper.” and is 169 feet tall
Here, I saw some people scaling its very large steps. I also saw a sign nearby that said not to climb on the lions specifically, but not on the steps! There was what seemed to be an entrance area up to the columns base too. So, I decided to climb up the 3 bottom steps and take some long exposures of the intersection nearby. The intersection/round-about has an Equestrian Statue of King Charles I in the center.

Leadenhall Market is one of the oldest markets in London, dating from the 14th century, and is located in the historic center of the City of London financial district. It seemed to be going to sleep when we arrived, around 7pm at night. However, we found Boom Bap Burger was open and got a Burger there. It was quite good!
The market is beautiful and I could only imagine coming there on a Saturday afternoon when everything was open.

- Natural History Museum -
- Monument to the Great Fire of London -
- St Dunstan in the East Church Garden -

The Museum was very impressive. Again, I found myself admiring the architecture. The skeleton of the whale in the center was mesmerizing! Especially with the sunlight pouring into the room over its old bones.

The Great Fire of London in 1666 was a tragedy that never knew about or at least dont remember if I was ever told. Its monument was the largest one like it that I had seen in my time there being 202 feet tall!

St Dunstan was severely damaged by the Great Fire, repaired and maintained only to then be largely destroyed in WWII. It was particularly quiet here, and the local birds and wildlife were very friendly. A very somber, but beautiful place.

- IFS Cloud Royal Docks-

The best part about this trip, was that I was able to take a personal day once the convention was over, and that personal day was coincidentally my 31st birthday!

I started my day at sunrise and photographed the sunrise from the Royal Victoria Dock Footbridge and ended it on the same footbridge but photographing the sunset.

At sunset there was another person also watching it saying he lived in London for 4 years, then periodically travels back for work, and he has never seen a sunset like this. I totally lucked out, what a magical ending to birthday!

Others / Street Photography

I saw photographic opportunities everywhere! I probably looked like “one of those” tourists but I had a great time and thought I got some amazing photos. Northwest Ohio doesn’t lend itself to photography like this.

I hope you enjoy my attempts at street photography and capturing memories.
